Abstract

Objective To evaluate the expressions of S100A4 protein and E-cadherin(E-cad)in renal cell carcinoma(RCC),and to explore the association between the biological characteristics of RCC and the expressions of S100A4 protein and E-cad.Methods The expresstions of S100A4 protein and E-cad were detected by immunohistochemical S-P method in 50 cases of RCC and 10 nomal renal tissues. Results In nomal renal tissues,S100A4 protein was negatively expressed and E-cad positively expressed. There were significant differences in the positive expres-sion rates of both S100A4 protein and E-cad between RCC of various histological grades, between RCC with and without lymph node metasta-sis,and between RCC of differenct tumor sizes(P 0.05).Conclusion The expressions of S100A4 protein and E-cad are closely correlated with the biological behavior of RCC.S100A4 protein and E-cad may play important roles in the occurrence and development of RCC.
