Abstract

The spectrophotometric methods for the assay of triamcinolone acetonide and prednisolone in pha- rmasceutical preparations are described. The methods are based on the reduction of tetrazolium blue and tetrazolium violet in n-propanole in the presence of NaOH with triamcinolone acetonide and prednisolone respectively. The spectra of the obtained solutions exhibit an absorption maximum at 525 and 512 nm. The optimization of reaction conditions is investigated. The method is linear from 1,28—2,17 mg/mL for triamcinolone acetonide and 1,92 to 3,20 mg/mL for prednisolone with a correlation coefficients 0,9999 and 0.9981 respectively. These methods were found to be more simple and rapid, highly sensitive, precise and accurate in comparence with other procedures.
