Abstract
Love Need People have needs to be fulfilled. Fulfilling them enables human to live happily, otherwise, it affects body and mind negatively. Due to that fact, main character, as a adult, puts his life in danger to achieve his needs especially his love need which he values the most. Regarding to this issue of love, this research aims to analyze Joe‟s effort to fulfill his needs. Psychology in literature is applied since this research analyzes human behavior. To support the analysis, Maslow‟s hierarchy of need and theory of love are used. Afterward, descriptive qualitative method is used to analyze the data which include narration, dialogues and actions from the novel. The findings show that to fulfill his love needs, the main character has to fulfill his physiological and safety needs first. Main character urges to take destructive way to achieve his love needs because he cannot satisfy his needs if he does not do this way. This increasing action happens because there is the increasing threat to his basic human need. Thus, main character does everything both legal and illegal way as long as he can fulfill his needs.
