MONITORING RESULTS OF IODIZED SALT IN RESIDENTS IN 2009 CHENGDONG DISTRICT OF XINING

Abstract

[Objective] To know prevalence of Household iodized salt and iodized salt quality conditions in Chengdong District of Xinning,so that to provide basis for the relevant departments to take timely and targeted intervention strategy.[Methods] In accordance with the ‘National iodine deficiency disorders surveillance program’ requirements,9 counties and townships(streets) were randomly selected in the east,west,south and north areas of Wanbailin district.A total of 302 salt samples were collected,each was 50g,the coverage rate,of iodized salt,using rate of qualified iodized salt and qualified rate of iodized salt were monitored.The content of iodine in samples were detected.[Results] The coverage rate of iodized salt was 97.35%,the rate of non-iodine salt was 2.65%.The non-qualified rate of iodized salt was 0%.The qualified rate of iodized salt was 97.35%.[Conclusion] The qualified rate and using rate of iodized salt has reached to the national standards(﹥90%).
