Abstract

OBJECTIVE To know the residents' edible circumstance of iodized salt in Yangpu district Shanghai city,so as to find problems immediately and take corresponding intervention strategy.METHODS Analyzed the surveillance results of the edible iodized salt from residents during 2008 to 2011 by random sampling and importance sampling.RESULTS From 2008 to 2011,the surveillance results of the random sampling showed that except the qualified rate of iodized salt in 2011 and the edible rate of qualified iodized salt in 2010 and 2011 were all below 90%;the qualified rate of iodized salt and the edible rate of qualified iodized salt in other years and the rate of iodized salt coverage in four years were all above 90% and the rate of non-iodized salt were 1.56%-8.52%.The surveillance results of the importance sampling showed that the rate of iodized salt coverage was 87%-96.33% and the rate of non-iodized salt was 3.67%-13%.From 2008 to 2011,the coverage rate of iodized salt in residents,the qualified rate of iodized salt,the edible rate of qualified iodized salt and the iodine concentration of the qualified iodized salt all had downturn trends in Yangpu district,the rate of non-iodized salt increased gradually.CONCLUSION The relevant department should keep on enhancing the publicity on the knowledge about edible iodized salt to ensure the residents' iodine supply scientifically and prevent iodine deficiency disease.
