Abstract

[Objective] To analyze the epidemiological feature of bacillary dysentery from 1998 to 2008 in Yichun. [Methods] Retrospective study was conducted for bacillary dysentery cases Yichun from 1998 to 2008. [Results] The annual average incidence rate of bacillary dysentery was 45.50 / 100 000 and the average mortality rate was 1.60 / 100000 from 1998 to 2008. The average fatality rate was 0.02%. Most cases occurred from July to September, and accounted for 49.97% of the total cases. The ratio of male to female was 1.52︰1; farmers and children were the majority patients. [Conclusion] The incidence rate of bacillary dysentery descended from 1998 to 2008. In the epidemic season, the high-risk groups for prevention and control measures should be taken to effectively reduce the incidence of bacillary dysentery.
