Abstract
Objective:To investigate the correlation between pulse pressure and systolic and diastolic function of left ventricle in patients with essential hypertension.Metholds:Pulse pressure and left ventricular function were observed by echocardiography and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) in 65 patients with essential hypertension.Patients were divided into 2 groups according to mean pulse pressure.(1)High pulse pressure group (n=49):mean pulse pressure40 mmHg.(2)Lower pulse pressure group (n=16):mean pulse pressure ≤40 mmHg.Results:It was found that there was negative correlation between pulse pressure and peak flow velocity of early diastole (EPFV) (P0.01),positive correlation between pulse pressure and peak flow velocity of atrial contraction (APFV) (P0.01) and between pulse pressure and A/E (P0.001);and no correlation between pulse pressure and systolic function.Stepwise multivariate regression analysis disclosed that A/E ratio and age all alone and jointly positively correlated with pulse pressure (P 0.05 ,P0.01).Creatinine、total cholesterol、systolic blood pressure and triglyerides were higher in patients with high pulse pressure than patients with lower pulse pressure (P0.05\,0.001\,0.001\,0.05).Conclusion:It was suggested that left ventricular diastolic function was mainly influenced by pulse pressure in patients with essential hypertension.
