Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of pulse pressure and pulse pressure index in reflecting early renal injury for senile patients with hypertensive. Methods The pulse pressure and pulse pressure index of 253 cases, which conformed to the diagnostic standards for senile hypertension, were measured by Dynamic blood pressure monitor and divided into four groups based on pulse pressure level,of which pulse pressure≤40 mmHg(59 cases),41~60 mmHg (82 cases),61~80 mmHg(76 cases)and80 mmHg(36 cases). These cases were also further divided into 4 groups based on pulse pressure index,of which pulse pressure index ≤0.40(62 cases),0.41~0.50(86 cases)、0.51~0.60(72 cases),and 0.60 (33 cases).Albuminuria and blood lipid were determined by immune turbidimetric assay and albuminuria level was compared among the groups. Results There are no significant difference in age,the duration of hypertention and the abnormal blood lipid among the groups. With the increase of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, pulse pressure and pulse pressure index, albuminuria level increased significantly(P0.05).The correlation coefficient r value between pulse pressure, pulse pressure index and albuminuria level was higher than that between systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion There is close correlation between pulse pressure, pulse pressure index and albuminuria and they are more valuable than systolic blood pressure systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in reflecting early renal injury in hypertensive patients.
