The ‘rule of law’ with Chinese characteristics

Chapter 6 explores the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics. The chapter introduces the resolute call of the Chinese leaders to pursue the rule of law (including why it is important for China to become a rule-of-law country, what the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics is, and how the rule of law is to be achieved), outlines what has been done on China’s path to the rule of law (including organizational reforms, criminal justice reforms, judicial accountability, judicial independence, judicial competency, judicial transparency, people’s assessors and legal acculturation), and explores how China’s pursuit of the rule of law may inspire other countries.
