Evaluation of therapeutic effects of hyperbaric oxygen on patients with diabetic foot

Objective To explore the curative effect of hyperbaric oxygen on diabetic foot through comparing the efficacy of traditional therapy and hyperbaric oxygen. Methods 30 diabetic foot patients, 16 of them were given traditional therapy(control group), the other 14 were treated by hyperbaric oxygen on a voluntary basis(HBO). the levels of CRP,FIB and blood flow speed of the lower limbs between these two groups were compared before and after treatment. The treatment duration is 2 months. Results Before treatment,the difference of CRP,FIB and blood flow speed of the lower limbs in patients of both groups were not significant (P0.05). Two months after treatment,the above parameters in HBO group were significantly improved compared to those in control group (P0.01). Two months after treatment,the overall efficacy of HBO treatment was 85.71%(12/14); while the traditional therapy was 68.75%(11/16). The overall efficacy of HBO treatment was significantly higher than traditional therapy (P 0.01). Conclusion HBO treatment is more advantageous than the traditional therapy and it is a safe and effective therapy.
