Abstract

Objective To study the expression of the yes-associated protein 1 ( Yapl ) in prostate cancer and its clinicopathological significance. Methods We detected the expression of the Yap1 protein in 35 prostate cancer and 16 benign prostate hyperplasia specimens by immunohistochemistry, with mean IA (IA/area) value representing expression level of positive cells. The correlation between the expression level of Yapl and the clinicopathological parameters was analyzed. Results The Yap1 protein was expressed predominantly in the cytoplasm of cells. Yap1 expression was significantly lower in prostate cancer group (IA/area =0. 0782±0. 0614) than in benign prostatic hyperplasia group (IA/area = O. 1867 ±0. 0753), (P 〈0. 01 ,F = 16. 942). The expression of Yapl in prostate cancer was not correlated with the Gleason score of prostate cancer ( P 〉 0. 05 ), however, the expression of Yap1 in low pathological grading ( Gleason 7 ,IA/area =0. 0548 +0. 0441 ) was higher than that in high pathological grading (Gieason 9,lA/area = 0. 1296 ±0. 0957 ) ,P 〈 0. 05. Conclusion Yapl expression might be involved in prostate cancer development. Key words: Yes-associated protein 1 (Yapl) ;  Prostate cancer;  Immunohistochemistry
