Abstract
Objective To study the OPN gene expression and its clinical significance in prostate cancer.Methods A total of 80 samples of prostate cancer and35 samples of benign prostate hyperplasia were collected from our hospital during Jan. 2008 and May 2011.The OPN expression was detected by immunohistochemistry of MaxVision.The correlation between the OPN expression and the clinical pathological parameters were then analyzed.Results The positive expression rates of OPN were 72.50%(58/80)and 8.57%(3/35)respectively in prostate cancer and benign prostate hyperplasia,with a significant statistical difference(P0.05).The expression of OPN was positively correlated with the T stage and M stage of prostate cancer(P0.05),but not with age and lymph node metastasis and Gleason score(P0.05).Conclusion The overexpression of OPN indicates that it may play a certain role in the development,progression and infiltration of prostate cancer.
