Observation on lacrimal duct laser combined with lacrimal duct stent in the treatment of pediatric chronic dacryocystitis

Abstract
Objective
To evaluate the clinical effect of lacrimal duct laser combined with lacrimal duct stent on pediatric chronic dacryocystitis.
Methods
Twenty-three children (31 eyes) who were treated in Nanyang Eye Hospital from January 2012 to January 2015 for chronic dacryocystitis were selected as research objects. All children were treated by lacrimal duct laser combined with lacrimal duct stent. The stent were kept for 2 to 3 months, and all patients were followed up for 6 to 24 months to observe the effective rate.
Results
Of the 23 children (31 eyes), 26 eyes were completely resolved (83%), one eye (3%) was improved and four eyes (14%) got ineffective outcome. Total rate of efficiency was 86%.
Conclusions
Lacrimal duct laser combined with lacrimal duct stent is an effect, simple and safe treatment method for children with chronic dacryocystitis.
