Abstract

Objective To evaluate the changes of astigmatism after phacoemulsification between 2.6mm incision and 3.0mm incision. Methods Phacoemulsification was performed on 69 cases (69 eyes) without suture for a corneal incision. The surgical induced astigmatism between group A(3.0mm incision) and B (2.6mm) were compared. Results One week, one month and three months after the operation, the surgical induced astigmatism were (0.6347±0.57773)D, (0.6029±0.52986)D and(0.6471±0.51902)D in group A respectively. And the results were (0.7286±0.62241)D, (0.6286±0.45927)D and (0.5714±0.49472)D in group B respectively. There was no significant difference, statistically (P>0.05).Conclusions In clear corneal incision, coaxial phacoemulsification of cataract, 2.6mm incision is safe and effective. Key words: Phacoemulsification; Astigmatism; Incision
