Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of EGFR and MMP-9 in gastric cancer. Methods The expression of EGFR and MMP-9 was detected by immunohistochemical method in 80 gastric cancer tissues and 30 normal gastric tissues. Results The expression of EGFR and MMP-9 in gastric cancer tissues were significantly higher than that in normal gastric tissues( x2 =20. 95,22. 18 ,all P <0. 05 ). EGFR and MMP-9 expression were correlated with TNM stage ( x2 = 4. 26,5.78, all P < 0. 05 ) and lymph node metastasis ( x2 = 5. 30,5.61 ,all P <0. 05). Conclusion EGFR and MMP-9 were over- expressed in gastric cancer, which was closely correlated to TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. It could be used to evaluate the biological behavior and prognosis of gastric cancer. Key words: Stomach neoplasms; Epidermal growth factor receptor; Matrix metalloproteinase 9
