Vaspin:a novel insulin-sensitizing adipocytokine

Abstract
Vaspin,which is a member of serine protease inhibitor family,was isolated from visceral white adipose tissues(WATs) of OLETF rat,an animal model of abdominal obesity with type 2 diabetes.Human serum vaspin presented a sexual dimorphism and was associated with parameters of obesity,insulin resistance,and glucose metabolism.And it can improve glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in vivo.So vaspin recombinant protein or its analogs may be the novel drug to treat metabolic syndrome.
