Relationship between adipokines and gestational diabetes mellitus

A variety of bioactive adipokines are secreted from adipose tissue in human,and there is a phenomenon that they are dyssecretosis in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).Studies showed that increased leptin and decreased adiponectin in early trimester of pregnancy may predict occurrence of GDM.Adiponectin can influence insulin sensitivity and regulate serum glucose and insulin levels through effecting insulin signal transduction.Retinol-binding protein 4 may adjust glucose by regulating lipids.Mean-while,visfatin and vaspin may be the key points of insulin resistance,because their expression are both affect-ed by numerous factors.Furthermore,gene polymorphism of resistin also influences individuals in different ways.In conclusion,the mechanisms of adipokincs arc complex,the disorders of secrection is closely related to insulin resistance and metabolism of glucose and lipds,as well as influences the pathophysiology and prog-nosis of GDM.
