Observation of effects of complex iodine cotton swab in disinfecting tracheostomy stoma

Objective To observe the effect of complex iodine cotton swab in disinfecting tracbeostomystoma, and to seek a simple , shortcut and effective disinfection method. Methods 26 patients withtracheostomy were enrolled. Self-control was deployed, the control group used 75% medical alcohol to disinfect,the experiment group used complex iodine cotton swab to disinfect. Every sampling was germicultured before andafter disinfection. Results The positive rate of sampling germicolture before disinfection was 100%, bacteriumkill ratios were both acceptable,the postive rate of the control group was 2.69% after disinfection,the positiverate of the experiment group was 0 after disinfection ,there was no significant difference between the two groups(P＞0.05). Conclusions Both of the two disinfection methods are effective, however, complex iodine cottonswab, simpler and more convenient to use , is an ideal antiseptic for disinfection stoma.
