EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON DISINFECTION EFFICACY OF TWO METHODS FOR DISINFECTION OF SKIN

Objective To compare the efficacy of to-and-fro parallel wiping method(habitual method) and circular spiral wiping method(routine method) in disinfection of skin.Methods Sampling with swab and bacteria examination were used to compare the efficacy of disinfection using the 2 methods.Results Habitual disinfection method required shorter time than routine method did,but there was no obvious difference in positive rate of bacteria examination.The length of the cotton swab,cotton part of the swab and the length of the cotton part dipped in disinfectant were alike.There was obvious difference in crossover comparison of contamination indexes between disinfection once and twice.After disinfection twice,the positive rate of contamination after habitual disinfection was higher than that after routine disinfection.In the positive samples,Serratia marcescens,Klebsiella pneumoniae and Citrobacter freundii were detected.Conclusions Habitual disinfection can save time compared with routine disinfection,but its reliability of disinfection effiicacy is lower than that of routine method.Wiping disinfection twice is better than once.
