Application value of Orem's self-care mode in nursing of patients with stroke

Abstract

Objective To discuss the application value of Orem's self-care mode in the nursing of patients with stroke. Methods 88 patients with acute stroke in our hospital were selected from January 2008 to January 2011.All patients were divided into the control group and the observation group with 44patients in each group. The control group was treated by conventional medical care, and the observation group was treated by Orem's self-care mode. The ADL of two groups was observed before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the Barthel index of the control group and the observation group were significantly increased. But compared with the control group, the Barthel index of the observation group increased significantly. Conclusions By Orem's self-care mode, patients with stroke can improve their ADL and their quality of life. Key words: Orem's self-care mode;  Stroke;  Application value
