Abstract
Objective To study the diagnostic value of plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) for heart failure. Methods 200 cases of heart failure patients within a year were selected as the observation group,200 healthy medical staffs were randomly assigned as the control group. The concentration of plasma BNP of the two groups were measured and we analyzed the correlation between plasma BNP level and cardiac functional status of patients. Results The concentration of plasma BNP in patients with heart failure was (575.7 ± 176.5) pg/ml,significantly higher than the control group (68.2 ± 17.9) pg/ml,the two groups were statistically significantly different (P < 0.05).The concentration of plasma BNP increased gradually with more severe symptoms (class Ⅰ to Ⅳ).Conclusion BNP level may be a reliable method in the diagnosis of heart failure. The level of plasma BNP in patients with heart failure elevated with the severity of heart failure and it plays a significant role in the clinical diagnosis of heart failure. Key words: Brain natriuretic peptide; Clinical diagnosis; Heart failure
