Control study of aripiprazole and rispeidone in treatment of patients with schizophrenia

Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect and safety of aripiprazole in treatment of patients with schizophrenia. Methods 65 patients with schizophrenia were divided randomly into aripiprazole group and rispeidone group, taking aripiprazole and rispeidone respectively for 8 weeks. The positive and negative symptoms scale (PANSS) and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS) were used to evaluate the efficacy and side effects. Results The score of PANSS of both groups significantly dropped after treatment (P 0.05).The mean score of TESS of both group had no significant difference also(P>0.05).Conclusion Aripiprazole is effective in treatment of patients with schizophrenia with few side effects.
