Abstract

Objective To comprehend the level of self-care agency and quality of life in ischemic stroke patients and to explore the relationship between both sides. Methods Totals of 119 cases of ischemic stroke patients were chosen by convenience sampling. They were surveyed about their self-care agency and quality of life by the Exercise of Self-Care Agency Scale ( ESCA ) and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36).The result had been analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. Results The total score of ESCA was (96.61 ±18.30),and 10.92% of patients in low level of self-care agency, 78.99% in middle level, and 10.08%in high level. The total score of SF-36 was (86.51 ±17.57).The correlation analysis results showed that self-care agency, self-concept, health knowledge level and self-care skill were positively correlated with quality of life of patients. Conclusions Ischemic stroke patient’ s self-care agency has positive relationship with their quality of life, which indicates that more attention should be paid on the improvement of their self-care knowledge and skills. Key words: Ischemic stroke; Self-care agency; Quality of life; Correlation
