Application effect of chlortetracycin hydrochloride eye ointment in preoperative indwelling urethral catheter

Objective To explore the effect of using chlortetracycin hydrochloride eye ointment as catheter lubricants in indwelling urethral catheter.Methods 300 preoperative patients who needed indwelling urethral catheter were randomly divided into observation group and control group,150 cases in each group.The control group used sterilized paraffin oil,the observation group used chlortetracycin as catheter lubricants,then we observed and compared two groups' urinary irritation symptoms and the positive ratio of antidromic indwelling ureter urethra infection.Results There was significant difference in urinary irritation symptoms at 6,12,24,36 hours after surgery between the two groups (P ＜ 0.01); the positive ratio of antidromic indwelling ureter urethra infection also differed significantly between the two groups (6,12 hours after surgery P ＜ 0.01,24,36 hours after surgery,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion There was obvious effect to reduce the surgical patients' urinary irritation symptoms and the positive ratio of antidromic indwelling ureter nrethra infection by using chlortetracycin hydrochloride eye ointment as catheter lubricants.
