Abstract

Objective Compare the effect of dexamethasone, tropisetron, dexamethasone and Tropisetron in preventing nausea and vomiting after radical mastectomy. Methods Eighty-nine patients were divided into four groups; the control (group Ⅰ),the dexamethasone (group Ⅱ),tropisetron (group Ⅲ),dexamethasone and tropisetron group (Ⅳ group).Assess PONV of each group. Results The incidence of nausea was 32%,21%,20%,16% respeotinely; And the incidence of vomiting was 24%,16%,15%,12%.Comparing with the control group, the other three groups had a low incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV,P < 0.05).The three groups, showed no statistical significance. Conclusion No significant difference between the dexamethasone and tropisetron in preventing PONV of patients after radical mastectomy. Key words: Postoperative nausea and vomiting;  Tropisetron;  Dexamethasone;  Radical mastectomy
