Abstract

Objective To analyze the relationship of carotid artery atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction. Methods Color Doppler flow imaging was used to investigate carotid artery intima-medium thickness(IMT) and ca-rotid artery plaque in patients cerebral infarction and health people. Results In 38 patients cerebral infarc-tion,IMT increase was found in 29 cases and carotid artery plaque was observed in 38 cases(76.3%). In 20 health people,IMT increase was found in 3 cases and carotid artery plaque was observed in 3 cases(15.0%) ,those of two groups were significantly different. Conclusion Cerebral infarction is related with carotid artery plaque. Color Doppler flow ultrasound is a convenient and effective method to investigate carotid artery plaque, which is important to prevent the onset of cerebral infarction. Key words: Atherosclerosis; Carotid medea; Cerebral infarction; Ultrosoundgraphy,Doppler, colar
