Value of prediction of cerebral infarction by detecting carotid artery with color Doppler ultrasound

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the relationship between cerebral infarction and carotid atherosclerosis,to determine the value of prediction of cerebral infarction by detecting carotid artery with color Doppler ultrasound.Methods: Datas of detecting carotid artery with color Doppler ultrasound for 128 patients with cerebral infarction(Group A) and 98 patients without cerebral infarction(Group B) were reviewed.Results: Ninty cases in group A found carotid atherosclerotic plaque,accounting for 70.3%,which was significantly higher than that in group B,25.5%.The location of the hard plaque in the bifurcation of carotid artery accounted for 58.4%,which was significantly higher than that in the carotid artery and internal carotid artery.The incidence of soft plaque was higher in moderate and severe cerebral infarction than in mild cerebral infarction.Conclusion: The incidence of cerebral infarction relates with carotid atherosclerotic plaque.The conditions of cerebral infarction are related to the property of the nature of the hardened plaque.Detecting carotid artery with color Doppler ultrasound has important clinical significance for the prediction of cerebral infarction.
