Evaluation of nursing intervention for patients with osteoporosis in nursing home

Abstract
Objective To investigate nursing model for patients with osteoporosis intervention in nursing home, and to improve the bone health awareness and self-care ability of the elderly. Methods As research subjects, the elderly patients with osteoporosis in 8 of the nursing homes were randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. Intervention group carried out nursing intervention but control group without intervention, comparing the differences in fracture, pain, medications and exercise conditions between two groups. Results Compared with control group, the pain, medications, exercise in intervention group had significant improvement, the difference was statistically significant; although the number of fractures in intervention group was less than the control group, but not statistically significant. Conclusions Nursing intervention can improve the elderly in the nursing home on prevention of osteoporosis, reduce complications and improve their quality of life.
