Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of stat3 and PTEN in colorectal cancer. Methods The expression of stat3 and PTEN were detected by immunohistochemical method in 88 colorectal cancer tissues and 20 normal colorectal tissues. Results The expression of stat3 in colorectal cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in normal colorectal tissues(x2 = 11. 87, P < 0.05). The expression of PTEN in colorectal cancer tissues was significantly lower than that in normal colorectal tissues(x2 = 15.49 ,P < 0.05). Stat3 and PTEN expression were correlated with histological type, Dukes classification and lymph node metastasis (P < 0. 05).Conclusion Stat3 and PTEN were closely correlated with histological type, Dukes classification and lymph node metastasis. They could be used to evaluate the biological behavior and prognosis of colorectal cancer. Key words: Colorectal Neoplasm; Structural homology, protein; Transcription factor
