The expression and significance of PTEN in progression of colorectal cancer

Objective To explore the expression and significance of PTEN in the progression of colorectal cancer,including normal colorectal tissue,colorectal hyperplastic polyps,colorectal adenoma and colorectal cancer.Methods The expression of PTEN was detected in 122 specimens using immunohistochemistry(SP method).The relationship between the expression of PTEN protein and clinicopathological factors was analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test.Results There was significant diffierence of the expression of PTEN protein among normal colorectal tissue,colorectal hyperplastic polyps,colorectal adenoma and colorectal cancer(P=0.000).No positive correlation was found in colorectal cancer between the expression of PTEN and degree of differentiation,Dukes' stage,or genger(P0.05).But there was a positive correlation between its expression and the patient's age(P=0.002).Conclusion There was abnormal expression of PTEN protein in the progression of colorectal cancer.And its low expression was high related with the development,invasion and metastasis of colorectal cancer.
