Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinic value of bronchoalveolar lavage on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with mechanical ventilation. Methods 94 patients with mechanical ventilation were randomly divided into treatment group (48 cases) and control group (46 cases). The patients in treatment group had bronchoalveolar lavage. The curative effect and the index changes of blood gas analysis and respiratory mechanics were observed. Results After bronchoalveolar lavage, clinical symptoms improved, PaO2 increased, PaCO2 decreased, mean airway pressure and peak airway pressure decreased, and lung dynamic compliance improved in treatment group (all P <0. 05).Compared with control group, the control time of clinical symptom, sign, relevant indexes of laboratory examinations, and lung inflammation significantly decurtated (all P < 0. 01), and the mechanical ventilation and hospitalization days in medical intensive care unit decreased in treatment group (all P <0. 05). Conclusions Bronchoalveolar lavage is safe and effective for COPD patients with mechanical ventilation, and is worth clinical application. Key words: Bronchoalveolar lavage; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Mechanical ventilation
