Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets combined with mosapride on improvement of intestinal function and life quality in elderly functional constipation patients. Methods Fifty-eight elderly functional constipation patients were divided into single group (n=29) and combined group(n=29) according to different treatment methods. The single group was treated with mosapride, and the combined group was treated with mosapride combined with bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets. The clinical effects, adverse reactions were analyzed in the two groups, besides, symptoms, signs (stool, defecation difficulties, defecation interval and bowel feeling) and life quality score in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate was 93.10% (27/29) in the combined group, which was higher than that in the single group (68.97%, 20/29), the difference was significant (P 0.05); the stool, defecation difficulties, defecation interval and bowel feeling scores in the combination group were significantly lower than those in the single group (P 0.05); compared with the single group, the scores of physical function, mental function, social function and material life status of the combined group after treatment were higher (P 0.05). Conclusions Bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets combined with mosapride in treatment of elderly functional constipation patients is more effective, it can effectively relieve patients’ clinical symptoms and signs, improve their life quality, besides, it has high safety. Key words: Bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets; Mosapride; Aged functional constipation; Intestinal function; Quality of life
