Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between the serum glucoselevel, blood lipid and blood pressure and the cerebral infarction size, neurological deficits, morbidity outcome, complication and mortality in patients with diabetes complicated with cerebral infarction. Methods Comparison was performed between 60 cases of diabetes complicated with cerebral infarction and another 60 normal counterparts. Those having hyperlipemia and hyperpiesia were compared with those with normal blood lipid and blood pressure. Results Major focal infarction occurred in the main branch to diabetics when complicated with cerebral infarction, who had larger infarct size, more neurological deficits, worse morbidity outcome, more complications and higher mortality.Occurrence of complications and mortality were positively related with hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia and hyperpiesia. Conclusion Hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia and hyperpiesia are factors enhancing cerebral infarction and brain damage. Proper insulin administration to control blood glucose level, hyperlipemia and blood pressure is benefitial to the treatment and prognosis of cerebral infarction.
