Abstract
Objective:To explore the influence of hyperglycemia on extent of the focus,clinical neurological deficits and the short term prognosis in patients with acute cerebral infarction.Methods:One hundred ninty four patients with acute cerebral infarction were divided into three groups:normal glycemic group,diabetes mellitus hyperglycemic group and hyperglycemia after cerebral infarction group.The distribution of the size of focus and clinical neurological deficit scores in different groups and the relationship between the rectification of blood glucose level and the short term prognosis were studied.Results:There was significant difference in distribution of the size of focus and neurological deficit scores among the three groups( P 0.005).The clinical neurological deficits were more serious in diabetes mellitus hyperglycemic group and hyperglycemia after cerebral infarction group and the focuses of cerebral infarction were larger later.The outback of the focus in patients with rectified blood glucose level was more obvious than that in patients with hyperglycemia in hyperglycemia after cerebral infarction group.Conclusions:The hyperglycemia in cases with acute cerebral infarction exacerbates the damages of the brain and the focus can shrink by rectification of blood glucose level.
