The effieaey of valsartan combined with amiodarone in maintenance of sinus rhythm in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

Objective To investigate the efficacy of valsaxtan combined with amiodarone in maintaince of sinus rhythm in patients with paroxysmal artrial fibrillation (AF). Methods From January 2004 to October 2007 ,a total of 86 consecative patients with proxysmal AF in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups: control group( amiodaxone, n = 44 ) and treating group( amiodarone plus valsartan n = 42 ). The left atrial diameter was measured with transchoracic echocarcliogram at initial therapy and after 6,12 months of treatment. Resi;ts The left atrial dimension of treating group were smaller than that of the control group. The rate of main-taining sinus rhythm in treating group was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion The results of this study suggest that the combination of amiodarone with valsartan is more effective than amiodarone alone in main-tenance of sinus rhythm.
