Abstract
Objective To explore curative effects of hyperbaric oxygen ( HBO) combined therapy for the patients with one-year acute cerebral infarction. Methods One hundred and ninty-two patients with acute cerebral infarction were divided randomly into HBO group and control group. The neurological impairment was scored before and after 20 days, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months of HBO therapy, respectively. According to the severity of neurological impairment before therapy, each group was divided into three subgroups. Results (1) Slight neurological impairment group: neurological impairment scores of HBO group were significantly lower than those of simultaneous control group( P <0. 01 or P <0.05 ). (2) Moderate neurological impairment group: neurological impairment scores of HBO group after 20 days and 12 months were significantly lower than those of simultaneous control group ( P < 0. 05 ). (3) Sever neurological impairment group: neurological impairment scores of the HBO group after 6 and 12 months were significantly lower than those of simultaneous control group (P <0. 05). (4) Both one-year mortality and relapse rate were significantly lower in the HBO group than those in control group (P <0. 01or P <0. 05). Conclusions During the acute stage, HBO therapy can improve neurological function recovery and benifit the patients after one-year acute of cerebral infarction. At the same time, HBO therapy can cut down the rate of mortality and relapse. Key words: Hyperbaric oxygen; Acute cerebral infarction; Neurologlical impairment
