Observation on the efficacy of modified six-three-one method on the treatment of cicatricial entropion of upper eyelid

Objective To observe the efficacy of modified six-three-one method on the treatment of cicatricial entropion of upper eyelid. Methods The data of 72 eyes of 57 cases with upper eyelid cicatricial entropion from Jan. 2013 to Jun. 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. All cases were treated with modified six-three-one method as observation group. In the observation group, only the eyelid conjunctiva and the posterior layer of the eyelid plate were cut at the eyelid sulcus to keep the anterior part of the eyelid plate continuous, and the incision was opened to adjust the position of the eyelid margin through the traction from the fornix to the eyelid skin suture. And 60 eyes of 42 cases with cicatricial entropion of upper eyelid complicated with the loosening of the upper eyelid skin at the same time were selected as the control group. Results All the eyelid varus were corrected in the two groups. The position of eyelid and eyeball was normal, and the recurrence rate was 1.45% (1/69) at 6 months after operation in the observation group and 1.75%(1/57) in the control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The modified six-three-one method is simple and effective in the correction of cicatricial entropion of upper eyelid.
