Comparative efficacy of modified three point double eyelid operation with the traditional double eyelid surgery for treatment of upper eyelid skin relaxation

Objective To compare the curative effect of modified three point double eyelid operation with the traditional double eyelid surgery for the treatment of upper eyelid skin relaxation. Methods 60 patients with upper eyelid skin relaxation from March 2008 to March 2011 in our hospital were selected as the research object, which were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 30 cases in each group.While the observation group was given with the modified double eyelid operation method of three points-double eyelid orbicularis oculi muscle of patients at theincision,with body being in inside,the control group was using the traditional double eyelid treatment.The clinical curative effect,complications and patient satisfaction of these two groups were compared before and after treatment of upper eyelid skin relaxation. Results The symptoms in both groups after treatment of eyelid skin relaxation registered improvement, but the effect of the observation group after treatment was more natural,the recovery time was shorter.While the satisfaction rate of the observation group was 90%, and that of the control group was 76.7%, the difference between the two groups was significant, P 0.05, with statistical significance. Conclusion The improved eyelid skin relaxation is of high satisfaction rate for three point double eyelid operation treatment, and its clinical application has more practical significance than the traditional double eyelid surgery treatment.
