Observation of the therapeutic efficiency of montelukast plus seretide on chronic severe bronchial asthma

Objective To compare the efficiency of montelukast plus seretide and single seretide on patients with bronchial asthma.Methods Fifty patients with bronchial asthma were randomly divided into two groups,treated with montelukast plus seretide and single serotide for six months.Pulmonary function,clinical symptom,IL-4 and EOS count before and after treatment were observed in the two groups,after treatment the recurrence rate were observed strictly for one years.Results Before and after treatment clinical symptom and pulmonary function of the two groups were all improved.But clinical symptom and pulmonary function of montelukast plus seretide group were improved rapidly (P ＜ 0.05 ).The recurrence rate were lower than that in the group without montelukast. Conclusions The clinical improvement appears more rapidly in treatment by montelukast plus seretide than by single seretide. Key words: Montelukast ;  Seretide ;  Bronchial asthma;  Interleukin - 4
