Correlated study of serum CRP, IL-6, TNF-α, adiponectin and insulin resistance in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus

Objective To investigate the correlation of serum CRP,IL-6,TNF-α,adiponectin and insulin resistance(IR) in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).Methods The levels of CRP,IL-6,TNF-α,adiponectin from 60 patients with GDM (GDM group) and 30 pregnant women with normal glucose tolerance (NC group) were detected.Homeostasis model insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) was applied to assess the status of IR.Results Serum adiponectin was significantly lower (P ＜ 0.05) in the patients with GDM than in control subjects.Serum CRP,IL-6 and TNF-α were significantly higher (P ＜ 0.05) in the patients with GDM.Serum adiponectin level was negatively correlative with IR (r =-0.412,P ＜ 0.05).Serum CRP,IL-6 and TNF-α levels were positively correlative with IR (r =0.433,0.358,0.335,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions CRP,IL-6,TNF-α and adiponectin were related to IR and may participate in the pathogenesis of GDM.
