Expression of pituitary tumor transforming gene and Ki67 in colorectal cancer and its relationship with Ki67

Abstract

Objective To study the expression of pituitary tumor transforming gene (PTTG) in colorectal cancer,and investigate its relationship with Ki67,and probe their relation to the progression and metastasis of colorectal cancer.Methods Immunochemical staining was performed to detect the expression of PTTG and Ki67 in 42 cases of colorectal cancer tissues and 42 cases of normal control tissues.Results The positive rate of PTTG and Ki67 were 88.1% and 100% in colorectal cancer tissues.The positive rate and expression grade in colorectal cancer tissues were significantly higher than that in normal control tissues (P < 0.01 ).No relationship between expression of PTTG and tumor typing or differentiated of colorectal cancer ( P > 0.05),but expression of PTTG in metastasis group was much higher than negative group (P < 0.05 ).No relationship between expression of Ki67 and tumor typing,metastasis or differentiated of colorectal cancer (P > 0.05 ),PTTG showed no association with the expression of Ki67.Conclusions The expression of PTTG,is associated with the progression and metastasis of colorectal cancer,and PTTG may be used as molecular markers for judging the metastasis potential and the invasion of colorectal cancer.
