Abstract
Objective To study the expression of integrin α5β1 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in colorectal carcinoma tissue, the relationship between expression and clinicopathologoc features and the correlation between α5β1 expression and VEGF expression in colorectal carcinoma tissue. Methods The expression levels of α5β1 and VEGF in normal colorectal mucosa and colorectal carcinoma tissue were detected by using in situ hybridization. Results The positive expression rate of α5β1 and VEGF in colorectal carcinoma tissue was 56.00% and 61.29%,and that in normal colorectal mucosal tissue was 4% and 6%,respectively.There was significant difference in the positive expression rate between colorectal carcinoma tissue and normal colorectal mucosa (P < 0.05 ).The expression of α5 β1 and VEGF was not associated with gender, age, tumor size (P > 0.05 ).The expression rate of α5β1 and VEGF in patients with poor differentiation, lymph node metastasis and high Dukes' staging was increased, and the expression rate of VEGF in patients with deeper infiltration depth was increased ( P < 0.05 ).There was a positive correlation between the expression of α5β1 and VEGF in colorectal carcinoma tissue (rs =0.63,P < 0.01 ).Conclusion In colorectal carcinoma, the expression of α5β1 and VEGF is heightened, which hints they participate in the generation and development of colorectal carcinoma.
