Abstract

Objective To compare the difference of measuring blood pressure results between desk model mercurial sphygmomanometer and wrist electronic sphygmomanometer. In order to provide a proper measuring blood pressure for clinic using to wrist electronic sphygmomanometer. Methods A total of 333 medical outpatients were selected including 103 patients with normal cardiac rhythm and normotension,50 patients with normal cardiac rhythm and hypertension and 180 patients with cardiac dysrhythmia. The blood pressure was measured with mercurial sphygmomanometer and wrist electronic sphygmomanometer respectively, then the t test was made. Results Two kinds of methods of measuring blood pressure had no differences in the normal cardiac rhythm and normotension patients ( P > 0.05 ) and significant differences in another 2 groups ( P < 0.05).Conclusions The patients with hypertension or cardiac dysrhythmia should take mercurial sphygrnomanometer to measure blood pressure. Key words: Blood pressure; Wrist electronic sphygmomanometer; Desktop mercury sphygmomanometer
