Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of early comprehensive nursing intervention on improv-ing depression and quality of life in young patients with perioperative breast cancer. Methods From November 2011 to February 2014, 300 cases of young breast cancer patients (aged≤35 years old) were recruited in a tumor hospital, and randomly assigned to the control group(144 cases) and the intervention group (156 cases). Patients in the control group received routine nursing care, while patients in the intervention group were given early comprehensive nursing intervention on the basis of routine care. The effect of the intervention on depression and quality of life was observed in two groups. Results Of 300 cases of young breast cancer patients, 90.7% (272/300) had depression, 72.3% (217/300) had quality of life score less than 40. Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) scored(12.76±4.10),(7.51±5.48) in the control group, and (12.73±3.94), (5.59±4.48) in the intervention group before and after the intervention. BDI score was lower after intervention in the intervention group than that in the control group (t=3.301). Quality of life Ques-tionnaire C30(QLQ-C30) scored (21.76 ±16.29), (41.96±14.10) in the control group, and (21.48±16.39), (49.46±11.67) in the intervention group before and after the intervention. After the intervention, statistically significant difference was seen between the intervention group and the control group. Conclusions Early comprehensive nursing intervention can effectively improve the depressive emotion and the quality of life in young breast cancer patients. It is not only simple and easy to be conducted, but also worthy of being generalized in clinical nursing. Key words: Nursing, intervention studies; Breast neoplasms; Depression; Quality of life
