Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of tilt the horizontal rectus muscle insertions on V pattern exotropia. Methods Slanting resetting the horizontal muscle insertions was performed on 11 patients with V pattern exotropia and without oblique muscle abnormality and overaction, contrast the ocular position, ocular muscle function and biocular functions before and after operation. Results V pattern in all patients disappeared after operation. No ocular movement disability or rotation discomfort was discovered. Five cases had biocular functions improvement. Conclusions The surgical technique of slanting muscle insertions for correcting exotropia of V pattern without oblique muscle abnormality and overaction is effective. Key words: Exotropia; Ophthalmologic surgical procedures; Treatment effectiveness
