Abstract

Objective To explore the regularity of expression of COX-2 in the breast cancer and benign tumor and the relationship between expression of COX-2 and C-met, and its significance in the development and metastasis of the breast cancer. Methods The expression of COX-2 was measured by immmunohistochemical assay in 60 cases of infiltrative type of breast duct carcinoma tissue and 20 cases of breast fibroadenoma and all the cases complete dates. Results The positive expression rates of COX-2 was 70.00% in the breast carcinoma.Overexpression of COX-2 was significantly correlated with tumor size, histologic grade, axillary lymph nod metastasis, clinical stages, expression of C-met (P<0.05), but it was insignificantly correlated with ages, menstruatiion (P>0.05).The expression of COX-2 was sig-nificantly higher in the breast carcinoma than that in the breast fibroadenoma( P <0.01 ).Conclusions The overexpression of COX-2 is closed correlated with the development and metastasis of breast carcino-ma.COX-2 may play a certain role in evalution prognosis and clinical treatment. Key words: Cyclooxygenase-2; Breast cancer; Immunohistochemistry
