Abstract
Objective: To explore the expression characteristic of cyclooxygenase-2(COX—2) gene in breast carcinomas and its relationship to pathoclinical parameters. Methods: Expression of COX—2 gene in 60 cases of breast carcinoma tissues was detected by SP immunohistochemistry. Results: The positive rate of COX—2 gene expression in 60 cases was 78.33%. COX—2 expression between stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ and stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ had significant difference(P0.05). The positive rate of stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ (83.67%) was much higher than that of stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ(54.55%). Also, the positive rate of COX—2 expression in breast carcinoma with lymph node metastasis was obviously lower than without lymph node metastasis(P0.05). COX—2 expression in groups such as different age, differentiation and right or left breast had no significant difference. Conclusion: Increased expression of COX—2 gene may involved in the early stage of carcinogenesis of breast carcinoma, and/or may have promotion effect in the progression. Detection of COX—2 gene expression may have diagnostic value to the early stage of breast carcinoma.
