Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of sequential therapy in the treatment of duodenal ulcer complicated with Helicobacter pylori(Hp). Methods Seventy patients with Hp positive duodenal ulcer were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group were treated with rabeprazole, amoxillin at first five days; rabeprazole, clarithromycin and tinidazole at the second five days. The control group were treated with rabeprazole, amoxillin and clarithromycin for seven days. Two groups were treated with rabeprazole for 3 weeks sequentially. Gastroscopy and Hp test were performed in the fourth week after the end of the treatment. Results The Hp eradication rate was 94.1%in treatment group, while it was 77.8% in control group. There was significant difference between the two groups(P 0.05). Conclusions Sequential therapy is more effective, well tolerated and with higher rate of eradication. Key words: Sequential therapy;  Helicobacter pylori;  Duodenal ulcer
