Investigation of the morbidity of depression in COPD patients and psychological nursing

Objective To investigate the morbidity and influence factors of depression in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary.And investigate the effects of psychological nursing on COPD patients with depression.Methods A total of 116 COPD patients were investigated by self - rating depression scale (SDS).The relationship between depression and their gender,age,educational level,economic status,duration was investigated.The 49 cases complicated with depression were randomly divided into experimental group (26 cases) and control group (23 cases),all of them received a routine treatment and care by COPD treatment guidelines.The experimental group had an additional psychological nursing for 3 months.The effects was compared before and after the psychological nursing by the scale of SDS assessment. Results The morbidity of depression in COPD patients was 42.24％,the occurrence had no relationship with gender,age,but had relationship with education level,economic status,duration of disease and so on.After psychological nursing,the score of SDS was lower in experimental group than that in control group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The results showed that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is often accompanied by depression,which occurs with a variety of factors.Psychological nursing can effectively relieve depression in patients with COPD,improve quality of life.
