Analysis of efficacy and untoward reaction on 200 cases of brain cysticercosis

Objective To assess the efficacy and untoward reaction of hlbendazole, Praziquantel in treatment of brain cysticercosis. Method 200 brain cysticercosis patients' data were selected randomly, which were treated from 2002 to 2007, and divided into two groups. 58 cases in group A were treated with Albendazole alone, 142 cases in group B were treated with both Praziquantel and Albendazole, and then the efficacy and untoward reaction between the two groups were compared. Results The efficacy of two groups was almost the same(P>0.05). The incidence of untoward reaction of group A was less than that in group B, such as intracranial hypertension, falling sickness, mental symptom(P 0.05). Conclusions Albendazole and Praziquantel have certain clinical efficacy in treatment of brain cysticercosis, but untoward reaction of drug combination is more serious.
